Around three years ago when I was still newly saved, I was faced with an unavoidable problematic situation. It seemed impossible for anything to be done about it. For around two weeks I was depressed thinking about the outcome. To not go into much detail right now (I will write about this in a future separate article), for those two weeks I did not say a single word about this (I was newly saved, I did not know anything about God or prayer). I only felt pain. The night before the day the problem was to occur, I got to bed with a depressed "tomorrow is the day" kind of feeling. How do I explain it when the next day, I woke up from bed and I saw that the unavoidable, hurtful, unsolvable, problematic situation, was resolved by a miracle from God some 2000 kilometers away from where I live? I did not speak a single word about my pain for two weeks, yet God still heard me and answered my prayer with a miracle. A week later He gave me another miracle in the same magnitude, same distance, with the same people involved. Praise and bless God Almighty.
Within the next few months, I have no idea how, why, where or by whom, I was taught that God's will is difficult - that it's His will that we should suffer here. The context is: it seemed like every Christian article I ever read was only about the afterlife - when we finish our earthly course and get to Heaven. Everyone was talking about Heaven, while no one was talking about the problems we currently have, or how to face them, or how they can ever be resolved. And people would say: "You won't have problems in Heaven". Yeah, but what about now? So, it made me live in fear and depression. But, our Wonderful Lord had already given me two miracles and a few visions, so I thought there is more than what people say. Then, by providence, the Lord brought my attention to Joseph Kostelnik, through whom I later found out about Oral Roberts; and I saw what these people saw in God - Who He really is. I saw His miracles; the way He spoke to these men of God; the healings; providing every need to every one of His believers and helping them in every instance. I also realized that none, absolutely none of the problems in this world are caused by Him. He is here to help us and not to harm us. Through one of Oral's books, I realized this from John 10:10. In that verse, Jesus said: "The thief (the devil) comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." (parentheses added)
Read what Oral Roberts wrote about our Lord Jesus Christ in his book "My Story":
"The Lord I saw laughed in the sunshine, sang through the throats of birds, shouted through the happiness of whole people. He made merry with little children, healing and blessing them until they swarmed about Him, climbed upon His knees, pulled at Him, smiled up into His eyes and begged Him to tell them more stories about the Heavenly Father.
I saw Him to be a big, friendly man, experiencing the same emotions we do, but always with a perfect poise and control. His wit was sparkling. He showed His love for people. He enjoyed being with the crowd. He attended feasts, even though they were prepared and attended by sinners.
He set the pattern for His work with His first miracle - turning water into wine. "I have come that they might have life", he cried, "and have it more abundantly." Then He illustrated that fact by making use of His mighty power, not to point to a solemn moral, but to keep people at a wedding feast enjoying themselves. Look! Listen! See His sparkling eyes; hear His infectious laughter; hear Him say, "Let my friends be happy with Me."
Some people of His day didn't like Jesus Christ to act this way. They criticized Him for His joy, questioned His choice of friends. To them, God was strange, far away, forbidding and awesome. Religion was synonymous with sadness. God's will was hard, His purpose bitter.
Jesus tried to show them what God is really like. He tried to explain how God wanted them to be. He brought to man the glorious personality of God translated into human terms so all could receive and understand it. "If you have seen Me," he explained, "you have seen the Father. What I am, He is; what He is, I am showing you." He tried to make it clear that God is good, God is kind, God is joy. But the people of His day wanted to kill Jesus for saying such things. He preached the gospel, and the gospel means "good news." He showed there was joy in Heaven when one soul was saved.
...It is the reason I think as I do, pray and preach as I do and tell people everywhere, "Let your faith go to God! Release your faith to God. Believe! God will make you whole, fill you with joy, make you strong and vigorous in soul, mind and body. He will meet all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. He will make you His witnesses, a force in the world for good.""
Do not think Oral had it wrong here. The Lord used him to heal thousands and thousands of people, and minister to millions more.
I was recently thinking about flowers. You see how beautiful, meek and lovely they are, and how happy they look? The same One God who made these, also made you, me and everyone else. And He made the flowers as He pleased - I would say as His wonderful personality is.
See the video below; hear what Oral is saying and see God's goodness in healing the woman.
